Brief
The King George Hospital, London, was originally opened in 1912. Since then, it has undergone many expansions, the latest of which being the Decontamination Unit in February 2024. To connect their buildings, the team at ARC Structures worked alongside Portakabin to deliver the project successfully.
ARC Structures were asked to design and install a covered walkway for the King George Hospital, between the existing Juniper Endoscopy Unit and the new Decontamination Unit. The client required a structure which would give the feeling of being outside while having the protection of an indoor area.
Outcome
To create a light and airy space we used a clear polycarbonate glazing system which keeps hospital staff and visitors dry as they move between the buildings. The walkway is a modern and practical addition to the new hospital unit.
