Fabric Canopy, Roof Terrace, Lynton House
Lynton House, a substantial 9 floor property is perched on leafy Tavistock Square, in Bloomsbury. An iconic building, with a contemporary edge, is it now a multi-purpose office block home to several businesses.
Brief
ARC was approached by Faithdean PLC to design, fabricate and install a bespoke tensile fabric structure to the roof terrace of the building as part of a wider refurbishment project.
Outcome
ARC designed a three bay CHS portal framed steel structure with integrated cable routing for a bespoke lighting system, to span one side of the roof top elevation. PVC membrane was then tensioned to the structure with a system of stainless tensioners. The resulting fabric canopy provides much needed shade to this exposed area, as well as focus and architectural form, framing the skyline views.
The roof top area at Lynton House, Tavistock Place, London has been transformed into fully landscaped roof garden that the companies who use the office space can utilise for events and breakout time. Our fabric canopy is a fitting addition to the arguably one of the most stylish roof gardens in London, a final flourish to this unique and beautiful space.
