Neilston Campus
Neilston Primary School, St. Thomas’ Primary School, and the Madras Family Centre have joined together in a brand-new location: the Neilston Learning Campus. This facility was designed to provide the students, families and teachers a modern, inspirational space. While they will maintain their own individual identities, the benefit of this new space is shared facilities such as a large sports hall, dedicated space for science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), an art room and drama and music space.
Brief
ARC Structures were asked to design and install a covered seating area, providing some shade in the outdoor learning and eating area, so children and teachers are able to make use of the space despite changeable weather conditions.
Outcome
We designed an organic structure that blends in with the landscape, with natural colours and materials that contrast perfectly with the surrounding environment. It’s a well-used space, especially in the summer months, and the canopy provided by ARC helps to keep the children protected from harmful UV rays.
