Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire has been home to the British Grand Prix since 1948, and it’s an iconic venue for Formula 1 fans across the globe. In an ever-changing and advancing sport, it’s important that the premises have a modern look and feel.

Client: Silverstone

Main Contractor: HG Construction

Architect: Twelve Architects

Product: Timber clad steel frame with clear polycarbonate roof

Material: Steel and Polycarbonate with Thermawood cladding to the steel columns and fins underside

Brief

Following on from our previous work with the Silverstone Escapades accommodation, we were asked back to work on the clubhouse area, adding a permanent roof canopy to cover the bar area. We installed a durable polycarbonate roof, supported on a timber clad steel frame.

Outcome

The canopy provides some protection from poor or sunny weather, and the space is an ideal viewing platform for race day events. It can also host small private events or hotel activities such as fitness or wellness classes. The finished look is sleek and modern, while providing all the practical benefits the space required.
