As part of a £2.8 Million regeneration project to be called Theatre Square, the team at the New Wolsey Theatre approached Arc with ambitions for an iconic entrance canopy to the new building out the front of the theatre.

Arc were commissioned to design, engineer, manufacture and install a new eye-catching fabric membrane entrance canopy to the theatre frontage.

The entrance canopy needed to deliver a piece of tensile architecture that would create an impactful first impression to the newly regenerated ‘Theatre Square’ while also ensuring functionality as a entrance canopy to provide shelter from the elements. Tensile fabric chosen as the ideal material to construct the structure.

Designed with a gold fabric membrane with a black underside to match the new black resin walls, the 20m cantilevered entrance canopy arguably delivers the wow factor for visitors to the theatre.
