Escapade Silverstone is a unique branded residence concept at Silverstone race circuit – – home of the British Grand Prix. Directly overlooking the racetrack at Silverstone with covetable views, the development will ultimately consist of 60 high spec homes that had to deliver truly innovative design worthy of the iconic surroundings.
Designed by Twelve Architects, Escapade Silverstone achieves that ambition in spades. The 60 high spec residences all reflect their surroundings. The appearance of the front row properties on the trackside, have been inspired by the notion of ‘Slipstreaming’, where a car closely follows another vehicle, travelling in its slipstream before ultimately overtaking. The countryside residences offer privacy and stunning woodland views, while the middle row properties offer dual aspect views of both the track and rolling countryside.
Appointed by main contractors HG Construction, ARC secured the contract to design, manufacture and install fabric mesh cladding to the 15 track side houses.
“The design of the residences is inspired by the slipstream of a racing car; we wanted a form that references this but in a subtle way,” Matt Cartwright, Founding Director at Twelve Architects.
To ultimately reinforce the slipstream design, the front row residences have been designed with angular terraces. ARC will design and engineer a tensioned system to wrap the terraces with tensile mesh material, which will ultimately provide privacy and shading, as well as architectural innovation and impact.
ARC is delighted to be working with HG Construction and Twelve Architects to realise this unique, ambitious, and landmark project for Silverstone and the Escapade team.
